Get certified in beginning scuba diving or in one of our many specialty scuba courses. Sarge's Dive Shop offers scuba training for divers of all levels of experience. We offer everything from introductory lessons for beginners to advanced diving, search & recovery diving, ERDI public safety dive training and NAUI scuba instructorships. All of our instructors are certified with NAUI, SDI, ERDI, and TDI. We have a combined experience in scuba and search & recovery diving of over 100 years!
Diving Season
Our diving season runs from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day Monday. Lake visibility varies with rainfall and temperatures. An average summertime visibility of 20' to 40' is normal. Surface temperatures during the summer range from 78 degrees to 85 degrees. The depth of the lake varies down to a depth of 300+ feet. Sarge's runs scuba & swimming charters, lake tours, and dinner cruises on Summersville Lake every day with advanced reservations. See our "Services Page" for pricing.
ERDI Public Safety Diver Training
Public safety diving requires specialized skills and training. At Sarge's Dive Shop, we offer a full range of courses for law enforcement and other organizations. Our ERDI (Emergency Response Diving International) courses include certifications in ERDI I & II Public Safety Diving, ERDI Tender, ERDI Drysuit, and ERDI Full Face Mask diving. The ERDI II class requires each student to have access to a drysuit. Sarge's Dive Shop is an authorized DUI Drysuit dealer. We can order your department members a "Standard Drysuit" or a "Signature DUI Drysuit." The "Signature DUI Drysuits" require us to take your individual measurements for the custom suit. All ERDI courses are approved and endorsed by Homeland Security and are OSHA and NFPA compliant. We also offer specialty ERDI classes such as:

Course Components
Each ERDI course has an "Awareness Level," "Operations Level," and a "Technician Level." Many of these courses offer the "Awareness Level" training with online e-learning, so you can work at your own pace. A 6% WV Sales Tax is added to the cost of all classes.
